What The Hell Are They Doing?

With the Sky Sox crawling home on a 2-13 skid, the thoughts of a once promising season now turn to other things...and one of those things is this series of shots from the Salt Lake bullpen where their boys spent a lot of time flicking something, we couldn't tell what, hell, they could have been pretending to flick stuff just to mess with us, off into space.

Hey! It's Bees' reliever Ryan Brasier!
And he's doing stuff!
And...no one seems to care about Ryan's flicking ability...
...except, maybe, for the dude on the far right...
...and OFF it goes!
(whatever it is).
Always important to have a good follow-through...
and, HOT DAMN! The boy's a magician!
He flicked a baseball out of nowhere!

And now that Brasier's got them going, not that the rest of the pen showed enough to care, more guys get in on the act.

Here's Buddy Boshers flickin' it.
I'm the King of the World!
Whoever I am.
Were they flicking sunflower seeds? Something else? If you know let us know (and if you know who the King of the World is let us know that too).

Reservoir Bees

The boys in the Salt Lake bullpen pulled their best Reservoir Dogs impression during their last visit to Security Service Field at Mile High.

You boys walk out of the bullpen together like that
you're going to need some theme music to play over it.
It was early in the game and they all went up to the clubhouse,
probably to kill someone or something.
Play the video below and look at those boys above. Awesome isn't it?

Reservoir Dogs. Great movie. A tad violent, but hey, what are you going to do?

Now this would be a sweet alternate jersey for any team.

Oh geez! Cover your ears! Here they come!
Which one is Mr. Pink?
Nicely played boys. You'se got style.

Aliens!

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K Security Service Field at Mile High. Strange as in UFOs and Aliens and infected/infested players in the visiting bullpen.

With Tim Wheeler batting one of Salt Lake's "Aliens" puts
the kibosh on his swing and erases any memory of the event,
and maybe gives him space bugs.
How do we know that guy on the far right is an Alien? Well, explain this:

“They mostly come out at night, mostly.”
Kay-riste! Dude doesn't have a nose or mouth! What the hell?!

Confirmed! Freak-haired History Channel guy says so!
So, if Giorgio Tsoukalos from the History Channel (you know that bastard of a channel that doesn't show history anymore. They're almost as bad as The Learning Channel. Almost, Honey Boo Boo sets the bar pretty low.) says that guy's an Alien. That guy's an Alien. And is having an Alien on your team bad? Hell yeah it's bad! I heard from Giorgio that Aliens make everyone around them sick. His best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw that same Alien lay it's eggs under the skin of some of the guys in the Bees' bullpen and that they passed out at 31 Flavors last night. So you can see it's pretty serious.

Yup. That's a team with space bugs.

Bugs! Them boys got bugs!

Angry Octopus

Nellie's back! Fan favorite Chris Nelson is back in town, this time not with our Sky Sox, but with the Salt Lake Bees.

Chris Nelson celebrating Prostate Awareness Month in April of 2011.
It's been a long, strange year for Chris. Starting the season with the Rockies, traded to the Yankees, released by the Yankees and picked up by the Angels, and sent down to the Bees. And now, to top it off, season ticket holder Holly P. shouted out "Angry Octopus" at Nelson while he was coaching 1st base. A confused Chris just stared in disbelief. Everyone knows it "Awkward Octopus" and Holly had a lot of egg on her face. Nelson was so off-put that he's couldn't catch an infield practice ball thrown to him later in the game. Oh the humanity...

Hey! Throw it to me!
If Holly hadn't said, "Angry Octopus"
I would have caught this.
But one one hop!
That's 75 points!
See! Oh, you can't see, but there's a ball in my helmet.
I will hold it higher, but still in a position that you
will not be able to see what I have caught.
Thanks Chris! Hope you back up with the Angels soon.

Ridiculously Photogenic Baserunner

Hey look! It's Salt Lake's Trent Oeitjen sliding safe into home against the Sky Sox during the Bees' 3-2 victory on Wednesday, June 12:

SLIDE they said! Yeah. Just you watch me slide.
In fact, Trent was so safe he managed a hella-smile for the camera as he crossed the plate and thus became the Ridiculously Photogenic Baserunner.

Look! It's the Ridiculously Photogenic Baserunner
Easin' on down the road with a smile on his face.
Too awesome Trent! Get this man a prize! Or a puppy! Or something...

Am I safe? Who cares?
All that matters is that I take a good picture
.
