Roy Speaks

The Avalanche are 6-1 under new coach, and Hockey Hall of Famer, Patrick Roy. Color us a bit surprised. We thought his intensity wouldn't play in the locker room and that style wouldn't mesh with the current attitude of NHL players. But a 6-0 start, and with a passion for the game, and his players, that would be tough to match, Roy looks like the real deal behind the bench.

If you didn't get a chance to watch this interview before last night's 4-2 loss to Detroit check it out. Ex-Wing goalie, and victim of the 2nd goalie fight, Chris Osgood talks to Patrick about coaching, the rivalry and their fight. It give a good insight into Roy's coaching philosophy along with a laugh or two about the bad old days when the Avs hated the Wings and the Wings hated the Avs.

Patty Roy. We thinks we'se going to like you Coach.

Huuh Huh! He Said Peter McNab!

Hee hee. Huuh huh. He said, "Peter".
Hey! The Avs finally did something good! Well, their studio host, Kyle Keefe, and analyst, Mark Rycroft, did. They made us laugh. A tongue-tied Keefe called color man Peter McNab Penis McNab and, oh my, cry havoc and release a bucket of giggles!

I do believe we have found the highpoint of this sad, lost season for the Avalanche. Penis McNab! PengoSports salutes you!

Same As It Ever Was

Hey. Hockey's back and the Avs stink. Hmm. It's like the lock-out never even happened!

Looked like the Avalanche played on rental skates
during the 2nd period last night.
The Avs started off like gang-busters versus the Wild Saturday night. They led 1-0 after the 1st, it should have been 2-0 or 3-0, but when you don't bury your chances bad things are usually on the horizon. The 2nd period was that horizon. Steve Downie took 3 terrible penalties in the first six and half minutes, Minnesota converted with two power play goals, and that was that. Colorado loses 4-2.

Steve Downie going in for an another
cross check!
On a positive note, Watched Slap Shot during and after the Avs game. Better hockey, MUCH better announcers (McNab and Haynes seem like good guys but it's embarrassing for two professionals to shill that much. Zero honesty. Screw Kroenke Sports. You guys suck.) and far more entertaining than anything the NHL has to offer.

Who own the Chiefs?
Might be a long year for the Avalanche. Sign Ryan O'Reilly, play smart and bury your chances. 47 more to go with the Cup Champion Kings coming into town tomorrow. If you want to see NHL hockey, but on the cheap, wait to go see the Avs play Columbus on Thursday night. Tickets start at only $4 on Stubhub. Bargain!

Snots 4 the Memories

Nice going ya bastards at Altitude and KSE! In your greed to get that bullsh*t, emotional shot you only succeeded in scaring a little Sakic for life.

Sorry about this young Sakic. Once the die is cast PengoSports must report. Next time grab that lady's tissue and go for the nose. Although that was a pretty sweet snot-sickle.

PengoSports Christmas Gift List

Merry Christmas, happy holidays and good lovin' from all the staff at the
Inadvertent Sexual Christmas Image Hospi
tal!

Now that's over let's get onto this year's gifts:

To the Colorado Avalanche:

A run of good health, consistent play and strong goaltending to get Super Joe to the playoffs in his last season. It ain't happening, but it's a nice thought.

To Joe Sakic, a class act and first ballot hall of famer:

A playoff run and

To the Arena Football League and the Colorado Crush: Someone to give a sh*t. The 50 yard indoor war is over. There were no winners.

To the the MLS, soccer in general and the Colorado Rapids:

Some fu*kin' balls. Christ! Play like men and quit yer flopping about, whining and cryin'!

To Aussie Rules Football and Rugby League: An audience in this country and a nationwide cable agreement between Setanta and Comcast so we can become said audience (keep harassing your local provider to carry the channel). These are awesome sports and would develop a good following if we only could watch them!

To the Colorado Rockies:
A plan. A clue. Anything. Just stick to it. Oh, and an owner with some cash.

And finally to the Denver Broncos:

A whole fu*k load of cobras! More cobras than can be counted. Cobras, cobras, cobras. Lock them in a room together and see what happens. Hey Shanahan! try scripting the first 15 cobras! Broncos and cobras go in, only cobras come out.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Happy holidays from PengoSports!

Thursday Night Hullabaloo

How 'bout dem Broncos!? Just when you think all hope is lost and the season is finally flushed down the crapper they mount a comeback and win a fu*cking game! Granted, it was Cleveland, but a win at this point is a win, so bully for us!

The bad news? The injuries continue to build and they are now out of running backs, except for that white guy. While no cobra bites have been reported, I am guessing they account for a majority of the players on the disabled list.

With the win, and keeping the lead in the AFC West, those Bastards keep giving us fans that most evil of all emotions, hope. We think if they can just make the playoffs who knows what could happen. It would be better for all concern for them to lose many games, get bitched at by the fans and receive a high draft pick, that they would waste on a worthless defense lineman, but instead they will continue to win a game every time hope seems lost and lead us to believe that they might actually be a good team when, in fact, they suck.

The Broncos should be good. The Broncos may want to be good. The Broncos are not good. That sucks, but just you wait until 2009-10!

By the way, the Avs lost their 5th straight and now officially suck worse than the Nuggets, Rockies and Broncos combined. They can't score, they chase on defense and have average, at best, goaltending. It is going to be a long year for Colorado sports fans. Go CC!
