As Queensland's Justin Hodges, predicted, "The first 20 minutes are going to be pretty brutal," he said. Both sides are going to come out and try and stamp their authority. We expect a bit of fireworks, I guess."

New South Wales has lost 7 straight series to the Maroons. They are desperate for the win. While Queensland is Queensland and want to impose their will on the Blues to make it 8 in a row.

What is Origin?
Just the most awesome sporting event ever!

The State of Origin is the annual, best of 3 Australian National Rugby League all-star clash between players from New South Wales and Queensland, and it is about the most awesome sporting spectacle on the planet.

Imagine the best NFL players that played their high school ball in Texas and Florida leaving their teams three times a year, during the season, to play all-star games against each other that are far more intense than any rivalry, any playoff game or the Super Bowl. That just starts to scratch the surface of State of Origin. Origin is some thing special in the world of sports.

Rugby League is a hard-hitting, fast-moving game.
Football without pads, or a ton of subs (just 12 total per game).

Afraid the rules will be too weird? Rugby League is pretty easy to follow. They game is played 13 a side. Passes all have to go backwards. You can move the ball forward by running or kicking it. You get 4 points for a try (touchdown), 2 points for the conversion (extra point) and you can get 1 point for drop kicking a goal during play. Check out this page for a quick guide to the rules. Rugby League time! Australian Rugby League time! The awesome that is State of Origin is upon us! New South Wales v Queensland. Brother v Brother.  Cockroaches v Cane Toads. Thanks to Russell Crowe (who strong armed the boys at FOX) the game will be shown live Wednesday morning on Fox Soccer Channel (Comcast 125/ DirecTV 619/Dish 406). Pre-game from Melbourne (which is in Victoria. This match is being played at a neutral site) begins at 330am and kickoff is at 400am. Watch it live. DVR it. Just watch it. And welcome to one of the World's most intense sporting events.

State of Origin 2 lived up to our vast expectations. NSW broke a four match losing streak to down the Maroons 18-8 to even this year's series. The decider is set for July 6th, same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel.

Origin and Stanley Cup game 7 make for a happy Pengo

Speaking of Game 7, WOW! Tim Thomas just established the upper bar for how great a goalie can be in the finals. That performance will live in hockey history. And LuBrono? He may never recover (a lot like the reputation of the city of Vancouver. Most people thought it would be the ugly Americans tearing up Boston, nope. It was 'dem rascally Canadians).

The only Boston violence we noticed was at the Sky Sox game when a couple of Red Sox fans destroyed a chair in an on-field promotion. See the evidence below:

Imagine the Super Bowl, World Series and NBA Finals rolled into the awesomeness of the Stanley Cup Finals plus a couple of monkey knife fights tossed in for good measure!

What a great sport is the hockey! PLUS! We guarantee a Lebron-Free experience (although is Luongo plays like he's in Boston he will become the Lebron of Canada).
